As many as five quick years ago I ran across the band Frost* on the internet radio website LastFM. I was hooked.
The band leader, Jem Godfrey, kind of put the lid on the band - at least in the form I became acquainted with - after just two albums, which for me was a shame.
Here I celebrate one of my fave tracks from their 2006 album, Milliontown.
Black Light Machine
- Frost*
I'm just a stranger
I walk in the black light
Boy to a soldier
I'm fighting the good fight
And i wait
I wanna go, don't wanna know
'bout the danger
I'm just a farm boy
Just doin' what i can
When i'll be a killer
It'll make me a real man
I can't wait
I'm gonna know, i wanna go
Through the changes
And i can't breathe
Or is it all in my mind?
The faces are changing
Misplaced in time
And i won't dream
I will be the headlines
Your features are fading
Too late this time
And you know
You'd always be the first in line
And you know
It's all about the life divine
A hero's ending
All the signs
You're the one
And the one you must survive
And you know
It doesn't matter what you do
And you know
The luck you wear will pull you through
The never ending
Light you find
For the one
The one that will survive
And you know...
From the sountrack album to the film, Blade Runner. I do not recall this song playing in the movie, but it's a great addition to its film noire ambience.
Here's a credit found elsewhere:-
Performed by Don Percival
Lyrics by Peter Skellern
From the album ''Blade Runner'' (1994)
One more kiss, dear, one more sigh
Only this, dear, is goodbye
For our love is such pain and such pleasure
That I'll treasure till I die
So for now dear, Aurevoir, madame
But I bow dear, not farewell
For in time we may have a love's glory
Our love story to tell
Just as every autumn leaves fall from the tree
Tumble to the ground and die
So in the springtime like sweet memories
They will return as will I
Like the sun dear, upon high
We'll return dear, to the sky
And we'll banish the pain and the sorrow
Until tomorrow, goodbye
One more kiss dear, one more sigh
Only this dear, is goodbye
For our love is such passion, such pleasure
I will treasure until till I die
Like the sun dear, upon high
We'll return dear, to the sky
And we'll banish the pain and the sorrow
Until tomorrow, goodbye
Nik Kershaw does it again with this interesting song, "Made In Heaven".
This tune comes from his album "15 Minutes" (1999).
The stand-out lyric moment for me is:-
"And you will be everything you're not / When she's around."
Make of it what you will.
Nik Kershaw - Made In Heaven - Lyrics
You can have it if you want, it's on a plate
With southern fries and a salad dressed
Or, better still, undressed
And she'll come microwaved and hot
Loving all the things you've got
And you will be everything you're not
When she's around
And she'll be made in heaven,
in heaven, they said
That she'll be made in heaven,
forever in your head
You can keep it if you want, or throw it away
She comes free with metallic paint and a three
year guarantee
You can pull her on like a pair of jeans or
drink her down like the real thing
And she'll have a mind to call your own
And she won't wait to get you home
To get you home
And she'll be made in heaven,
in heaven, they said
That she'll be made in heaven,
forever in your head
She'll make you fly, she'll take you deep
When she comes walking in your sleep
But they made you a promise they
couldn't keep
When they told you
